ISSEY MIYAKE’s new men’s brand – IM MEN – presents a special exhibition “FLY WITH IM MEN”.
First launched in 2021, IM MEN explores new possibilities for creating clothing that respects the human body, based on Issey Miyake’s concept of “a piece of cloth”. The design team aims to redefine clothing through an approach to both shape and construction, combining design and engineering.
On January 23, 2025, IM MEN presented its collection for the first time during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. This exhibition explores the five series of the collection, developed around the concept of a piece of cloth.
To illustrate IM MEN’s innovative approach, the exhibition includes an installation by Japanese artist and designer Tokujin Yoshioka. The garments are made from original fabrics, developed through a combination of advanced technologies and traditional weaving and dyeing techniques. Reflecting the practice of uniting design (shape-making) and engineering (construction) and exploring the infinite possibilities of a piece of cloth.
An opportunity not only for the fashion audience, but also for those from other creative fields and beyond, to stimulate an interdisciplinary dialogue and investigate the future of the relationship between society and clothing design.
