Always fascinated by the metamorphoses of nature, Van Cleef & Arpels infuses the enchantment of flora into its jewellery. For the holidays, the Maison is embellishing its garden with four new Rose de Noël creations. Created in 1970, this collection pays homage to a flower that has the particularity of blooming in winter. In a poetic decor, two pendant necklaces and two pairs of earrings in grey mother-of-pearl and white gold or turquoise and yellow gold are revealed. These compositions reflect Van Cleef & Arpels’ expertise in the selection of stones.

The Rose de Noël collection celebrates the vitality of flora in the middle of winter. The corolla is composed of six cabochon-cut petals arranged on different levels to accentuate the impression of movement. As if they were swaying in the wind. Their volume is combined with a slight asymmetry of the motifs. In these compositions, proposed in an unprecedented size, the central structure of the flower also presents a three-dimensional movement. The pistil, in the centre of which shine three slightly raised diamonds, is composed of thin gold threads, also placed at different heights and oriented at different angles. An expression of Van Cleef & Arpels’ goldsmithing savoir-faire, the yellow or white gold setting is made using the ancestral technique of lost-wax casting, then finished and assembled by hand by the Maison’s craftsmen. Polishing requires just as much care due to the fineness of the elements.

Among the flowers reproduced by the Maison since 1906, the Christmas rose was represented for the first time in 1970. With its rounded corollas, the gold and diamond pistil and the combination of ornamental stones or organic materials, this collection expresses the effervescence of shapes and colours that characterised that decade. It also reflects the bohemian style then in vogue in various artistic fields. After its first creation in coral and yellow gold, the Rose de Noël collection has evolved over the years into vibrant interpretations. Turquoise, onyx or wood adorn the Between the Finger brooches, earrings and rings. Combining cabochon-cut petals with round-cut diamonds, the design of these creations spans the ages to the present day, paying homage to nature as an emblematic source of inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels.
