Marking a new decade of creativity, Magda Butrym unveils her most intimate and personal collection to date: Magdalena. Derived from her full name, used privately, Magdalena serves as an authentic self-portrait, capturing the Polish designer’s raw self-expression while remaining true to the distinctive identity of her brand.
For Fall-Winter 2025, Butrym draws inspiration from the emotional depth of poetry and the tactile beauty of knitwear—an art form deeply embedded in Poland’s modern and contemporary cultural landscape. Weaving has been a defining element of Polish artistry for over a century, and through Magdalena, Butrym pays homage to this heritage by translating it into fashion. Influenced by visionaries such as Magdalena Abakanowicz, Paulina Ołowska, and generations of skilled Polish artisans, the collection integrates the meticulous craftsmanship of weaving not only into eveningwear but also into the scenography of its exclusive presentation.
“This collection is an instinctive, fearless exploration of self— driven by pure emotion and the joy of creation.”

Magdalena emerges as a confluence of diverse influences, all filtered through Butrym’s distinctive Slavic sensibility. The vast creative possibilities of loom weaving allow the designer to experiment with texture in unexpected ways. Artisanal dresses, such as the striking red mini and the open-knit tutu paired with a black slip, are crafted from intricate blends of yarns and techniques that sculpt the female form with unapologetic beauty.
The final look—a wedding dress with a crochet veil and cloud-like textured pumps—stands as one of Butrym’s most personal creations. Densely woven and rich in texture, its petal-like silhouette echoes the intricate patterns of traditional Polish tapestries, made from the finest and softest yarns. Rendered in pure white, a color symbolizing freedom and new beginnings, it embodies Butrym’s vision of Slavic expressionism, where handcrafted artistry converges with a sensual, empowered femininity.
Given the deeply personal nature of the project, elements of Butrym’s everyday style naturally permeate the collection. A balance of modern practicality and dreamlike elegance defines the pieces: a raw shearling coat is effortlessly draped over a luxurious tracksuit, while fur shawls are layered atop quilted jackets. Reinforcing the brand’s signature aesthetic, a vivid floral headscarf—a hallmark of Slavic heritage—adds an unmistakable touch. A selection of sculpted black dresses, designed with ultra-feminine, hourglass silhouettes, draws inspiration from the traditional contours of Polish folk costumes. These looks also pay homage to the enigmatic, powerful women immortalized in Peter Lindbergh’s iconic photography—figures who walk with quiet confidence along wintry, windswept shores.
The world of Magdalena comes to life within a show space designed to fully encapsulate its spirit. This immersive environment features approximately 200 meters of woven fabric, an intricate creation requiring over 150 hours of craftsmanship. Suspended from the ceiling, these linen and alpaca installations undergo meticulous treatments—including warp winding, threading, and precision tying—to create a mist-like, semi-sheer frill effect. Their deep, saturated red hue references the Enchanted Rose, the eternal symbol of Magda Butrym’s brand. As models move fluidly through the ethereal setting, they not only animate the space but also embody the essence of the Magdalena woman.
For Magda Butrym, Magdalena signifies the beginning of a more instinctive, experimental phase in her creative journey—one driven by pure emotion and the pursuit of artistic expression. While it introduces a bold new perspective, the collection remains deeply rooted in the DNA of her brand. It embraces innovation, yet its essence—delicate yet strong, sensual yet powerful—remains unmistakably true to Butrym’s vision. A fearless and daring exploration of self, Magdalena reveals the designer’s artistry in a way never seen before, yet instantly recognizable.
