Registrations are now open for the 2025 edition of the international competition UNPUBLISHED PHOTO (UP). Young artists born between 1995 and 2007 have from January 20 to March 3 to submit their photographic projects. The competition is promoted by the Fondazione culture e musei (FCM) and the MUSEC of Lugano, in collaboration with the 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS gallery of Milan and the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti of Venice
Unpublished Photo is a project aimed at identifying young talents in contemporary photography, aged between 18 and 30. The aim is to promote and enhance trends in photographic art through an action in support of creativity without limits, for this reason the competition has a free theme
The project attracts a growing number of young artists from all over the world every year. The initiative was launched by the Milanese gallery 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS, and was then taken up by the MUSEC in Lugano, with the aim of strengthening cross-border collaboration and supporting the valorization of the work of young artists.
A jury composed of leading figures from the world of culture and photography will select four authors from among the participants. The UP25 competition awards the first place winner a monetary prize of CHF 3,500; while the second to fourth place winners receive CHF 500 each.
The four winners are also rewarded with the publication of a catalogue edited by FCM containing all the photographs entered in the competition, and an exhibition in Lugano, at the MUSEC headquarters. The costs of these valorization activities amount to CHF 50,000 and are covered entirely by the FCM.
The exhibition at the MUSEC in Lugano that will be held at the MUSEC will be an opportunity to attract collectors and photography enthusiasts and to allow the public to discover the new trends and expressive languages of the international contemporary scene. A series of collateral events dedicated to photography enthusiasts will be organized to complement the exhibition. At the end of the exhibition, the works on display will become part of the MUSEC collections, thus enriching a photographic heritage that today includes over 40,000 works from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day.
