Louis Vuitton is central to the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with breathtaking staging from the rooftops of Paris to the Louis Vuitton trunkmaking atelier, to the Seine, shining a spotlight on 170 years of savoir-faire through the Medal Trunk creation, specially designed for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

The extraordinary sequence is a heartfelt tribute to those Games spirit and its values of excellence, performance and creativity that echo those of Louis Vuitton. The scene begins on the rooftops of Louis Vuitton at Pont Neuf where, in an audacious staging, a masked Torchbearer nimbly crosses the Maison’s ateliers. We witness, step by step, the making of the Louis Vuitton Medals Trunk, an art that lies between acrobatics and the technical excellence born of exceptional savoir-faire.

An emotionally charged moment, as they represent the ultimate dream of all athletes. The Louis Vuitton Medals Trunk is then transported before the emblematic facade of the Louis Vuitton headquarters. In a spectacular, living tableau, performers and trolleys then parade along the Pont Neuf in a performance choreographed around the theme of travel, from the Pont Neuf to the Monnaie de Paris mint, where we observe the making of the medals, which are then meticulously placed in the Louis Vuitton Medal trunk. After a choreographic display on the Paris quays, the trunk’s journey then continues across the water, where the last Medals Trunk boards a boat to join two other Medals Trunks to head toward the Trocadéro. Two legends of the Games accompany the trunks, watching over and protecting the ultimate prizes of those on the rippling waters of the Seine.

The show then continues on the roofs of the Hôtel de Ville with a spectacular dance by Guillaume Diop, danseur étoile at the Opéra National de Paris. In this prestigious setting, Mr Diop is wearing pieces from the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2025 collection: brown pleated Bermuda shorts combined with a subtly sequined beige tank top reflecting relaxed elegance. On his feet are beige LV Trainer sneakers to complete the outfit. The ensemble is enhanced by a Tag pendant necklace in yellow gold from the Les Gastons Vuitton Fine Jewelry collection. He also wears an LV Dynasty pearl necklace and a gold LV Rope pendant necklace from the Fashion Jewelry line. Two rings from the same Fashion Jewelry collection complete this set with refined flair.

Shortly thereafter, in the ceremony, Louis Vuitton is showcased by virtue of two talented artists dressed in Louis Vuitton. Rim’K, an iconic Franco-Algerian rapper and producer, sings in a tableau that is a dynamic and spectacular combination of history of France, sports and dance. Rim’K wears a black-and-red chequered shearling jacket with pearl buttons from the Autumn-Winter 2024 collection, a white t-shirt, flared black jersey trousers and a pair of LV Trainers in black Monogram denim and white leather. He also wears a pair of black sunglasses. Shaheem Sanchez, an American dancer and pioneer of American Sign Language dancing, is dressed in Louis Vuitton and performs on Supernature, a hit from Cerrone, an emblematic French musician from the 1970s. Mr Sanchez wears a double-breasted, beaded copper suit, a matching tank top from the Louis Vuitton Autumn-Winter 2025 collection and a pair of patinated copper LV Trainers. He also wears a golden chain belt.

These sequences illustrate Louis Vuitton’s spirit of travel, creativity, diversity and inclusion as well as its ongoing commitment to the world of sport and recall Louis Vuitton’s mission during the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, which is to package and present the symbols of Olympism and Paralympism: torches and medals.
