Now RIMOWA is delighted to announce the launch of Distinct, a new line crafted in leather, a material that was used by the brand in its early stages, prior to introducing aluminium.
To celebrate the launch of the new range, RIMOWA took to the Musée Soulages in Rodez, France to capture the collection amongst the renowned works of Pierre Soulages, making it a historic feat for the German Maison as the first brand to do so. Known for a signature style characterized by the colour black and rich textures, the campaign honours the abstract artist’s compositions, and the craftsmanship honed by him over the course of his decades-long career—a value shared by RIMOWA.
In keeping with the Maison’s spirit of continuous innovation, the new luggage line marked the development of a new production process that integrated the use of leather. The new RIMOWA Distinct suitcases are created using a precise leather wrapping technique onto a solid structure, resulting in an elegant suitcase that holds its shape and features RIMOWA’s instantly-recognizable grooves. The new luggage will be made available in two unisex colours, Black and Navy.
To further ensure its reliability, the new range features corners and a logo badge made of aluminium as well as protective bumpers on its rear shell. The sleek leather and aluminium are then contrasted with silver rivets, a metallic zipper and zipper puller, which shine against the matte exterior and simultaneously offer an industrial aesthetic.
RIMOWA’s considered approach to functional luxury is continuously apparent in the Distinct range. Its interior is well thought-out, featuring a black lining that’s adorned by RIMOWA’s monogram in jacquard. On one side, you’ll find RIMOWA’s flex divider to compress your belonging, enriched with leather trimmings, the other side features a zipped compartment and a gusseted flap pocket.As is the case with every RIMOWA suitcase, each detail has been carefully considered. The suitcase features a number of sophisticated functionalities, including RIMOWA’s stage-free telescopic handle, comfortable leather grabbing handles, and the pioneering RIMOWA Multiwheel® System, which guarantees stable and effortless steering thanks to ball-bearing mounted wheels with cushioned axels. In addition, the suitcase features a colour matched leather luggage tag that can be personalised.
