Upon arriving at celine in 2018, hedi slimane left california where he lived for 10 years and settled in Ramatuelle, in the gulf of Saint-Tropez. For the past 5 years, the couturier has explored Saint-Tropez and a more general nostalgia for the french riviera as a parallel to the Saint-Germain-des-près codes of Celine.
La collection de Saint Tropez campaign was shot along the french riviera coastline. For this occasion, Celine customized a vintage mini moke vehicle. The small summer beach convertible car originally designed for military purposes, first appeared in 1964 and quickly became a symbol of freedom and pleasure in many seaside towns, especially in Saint-Tropez where the car was famously driven by french actress and myth Brigitte Bardot.
For this special project, the car has been customized with a triomphe wooden steering wheel, a triomphe canvas hood and dashboard featuring tan leather elements, wicker seats and spare wheel protection. A golden triomphe signature appears on the wheels and gear shift.
